So, Steve. Is This moon chip better or faster than ptsc's offering? I've tried to understand the technical data provided on Patriot's web site but I dont have enough engineering background to understand the differences that might exist in these various silicon offerings. It seems to me that Patriot has had this technology for a long time just waiting for an application and that it might be behind the times in some way by comparison to newer chips in terms of power usage , size, etc. Can You (or someone else with expertise in this area) clue me in? Thanks. Rob

Patriot Scientific Announces Skelmir's Software for Java CEE-J Ported To PSC1000

Scalable Virtual
Machine Software for Java for a Wide Range of Embedded Devices

Business Editors/Hi-Tech Writers

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 18, 2000--Patriot Scientific
Corporation (OTC: BB: PTSC), today announced that Skelmir LLC, a
developer of virtual machines, libraries and compilation tools for
Java(R), has ported its Compatible Execution Environment for Java
(CEE-J)(TM) system software to Patriot's PSC1000(TM) family of Java
microprocessors.
CEE-J is the highly scalable, field-proven virtual machine for
Java from Skelmir. With the smallest usable footprint on the market,
customers looking to deploy the power of Java on resource-constrained
devices can control memory footprint without sacrificing
functionality. Ideal for set-top boxes, Internet appliances, web pads,
and other resource limited embedded devices, CEE-J provides device
manufactures with Java technology optimized for their particular
requirements, without consuming extra memory for features they do not
need. Skelmir's CEE-J technology has been deployed on over 1,000,000
set top boxes used for European satellite television.
"We were compelled to port CEE-J to the PSC1000 due to its
outstanding execution of Java code. The PSC1000 also features low
power consumption and low cost, making it a great match for CEE-J,
given our common target customer." said Skelmir's president, Shari
Agatstein.
"This is another example of a supplier of superior Java software
being attracted to the advantages of the PSC1000 hardware platform,"
said Patriot's president and CEO, Jim Lunney. "CEE-J is important
because it is very efficient, yet can be scaled from the most minimal
Java device all the way up to systems requiring the most feature-rich
implementation of Java. We are very pleased to have Skelmir as a
partner," added Lunney.

first quarter of 2000. Skelmir's technical team is headed by CTO Mimir
Reynisson, who has been personally involved with the creation of
several commercially available virtual machines for Java, including
CEE-J. Skelmir's team of experts have been shipping commercial Java
