Actually got some interesting discussion going, although apparently there are no investors there. I posted the following about my strategy for the rest of the year. The responses to this post were really funny!! I guess those guys never met anyone who actually makes money at this...To answer my own question by: rudedog_from_SI (51/M/Houston, TX) 9/16/00 11:51 pm Msg: 353463 of 353469 on DELL investment strategy... I sold covered calls on my entire DELL position on August 8th - 300 contracts of the DLQII Sept 45s. I got 2 1/4 for them. They expired worthless last week, so I keep the money, $67K. I have been buying Nov 40s DLQKH over the last week, I now have 400 contracts at an average price of 2. I bought those same calls on August 22 for 2 5/8 and sold them on August 31 for 5 7/8, for a profit of $143K in a week. So I cleared a little over $200K on DELL in the last month, not bad for an idiot. These trades were all posted real time on the SI DELL board. I'd like to know what a REAL investor like you was doing, probably makes my trades look like small change. I also have picked up 50 of the WDQAJ Jan 02 LEAPs, and 30 of the WDQAI Jan 45 LEAPs. I plan on holding those at least through mid year 2001. I will hold the Nov calls until the next run to the mid-40s, or until just before earnings if DELL runs up. I won't hold through earnings as a downside surprise would make them worthless. If DELL has a downside surprise, I will buy in heavy on February calls, whatever looks good. If DELL beats estimates, I will sell covered calls and use that, and the money from the sale of the Nov calls, to buy more 2002 LEAPs, probably the 50s. My hope is that DELL will surprise on the upside or at least meet estimates, in which case my existing LEAP position will look good as the stock heads for 50. But if DELL does not meet the bar I am still prepared to make money. the link is messages.yahoo.com
