When he said "This is what happened at Waco," everyone, regardless of party affiliation, believed him.

I didn't believe him. Many others didn't either. He removed any doubt of a whitewash when he decided to prosecute the former prosecutor who blew the whistle on the Waco siege.

My favorite Democrats are Jim Traficant and Russ Feingold. On a different level I like Charley Rangel.

I think you're too harsh with Henry Hyde. The man is a lion, the epitome of integrity.

Danforth, Goldwater, Bunning, Ford - outstanding choices.
Goldwater was before my time, but I've heard and read makes the current crop of conservative standard bearers look particularly small. Ford is indeed a good and decent man, who, as President, had the extraordinary political courage to recognize and do what was necessary (pardoning Nixon)knowing full well that it would cost him the election. You don't see that kind of guts often. I was too young to vote in that election, but that kind of courage deserved a better fate at the ballot box. However, Carter has probably proven to be the country's best ex-president.
