Ray I put together the following portfolio mid August:http://www.siliconinvestor.com/subject.aspx?subjectid=23979

It is all alternative energy. The one that intrigues me the most is IMCO due to the fact that they have some nice contracts in place.http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/000802/ca_impco_a.html
and are profitable at this point.

I have managed to buy about six of the names in the alt/energy portfolio so far mostly the smaller caps. MKTY is a good one since it has stakes in PLUG, SATC and a couple others. Nice proxy way to own the sector and not real expensive.

Although this sector has had quite a run I think it could continue rocking with all the energy noise thats floating around right now. SATC will be spinning off Beacon power soon in an IPO. If you could get your hands on some IPO shares or pick up some near the open you'll probably end up happy. My strategy has been to buy 1k shares of companies on dips and sell 900 into strength thus lowering my cost basis.

Just discovered this fund:http://www.newalternativesfund.com/Page_1x.html
This could also be a way to play if individual stock picking is not your bag.

As far as auto makers as you know there are really only three left anymore and they all sell at a pretty big discount. I did short a motor home maker NVH earlier this year and did nicely. Presently I have a small short in place on ACF a subpar auto lender. In my neck of the woods I'm told late model Tahoe's etc are 4 to 5k back of wholesale book and still not selling.

Regards
Scott
