Dear Jim: I agree with all of your points. Gore HATES the gasoline engine and has so stated in his book. I expect he will make every attempt to RAISE excise taxes on gas using whatever available excuse he can find but the real reason is ecological. Also, rather than weaken he will likely attempt to strengthen Regulatory agencies. His election will cast a spell of gloom over the Large Cap companies, however, I still have HOPE that he will NOT be elected. Gore's recent rise in the polls is due to massive advertising campaign which the Bush crew has not yet responed too. Bush is conserving funds for the final month or two for an all out rebuttal. The Clinton Admin. including Gore certainly has supplied PLENTY OF AMMO if Bush wishes to wage a "dirty war". Personally, I think this Administration is the most corrupt in modern history. JDN

Re . If Gore wins we can pretty much be guaranteed high oil prices and recession

There is more to that ...
a Gore victory will spell the demise of the US might, thus continuing the terminal decline that started with the Clinton's tenure, the dollar will be in short worth 10 cents of euro. Morons like Greenspan will keep
screwing up, and the US will eventually become a third world country.

If however GW-clu-clax-clan_Bush wins there will be a renaissance fueled by free rifles and tax cuts for the rich. As someone suggested, a real economist like Larry Kudlow may soon take the rein of the FED. Moral principles will be restated in the form of an Office of Inquisition under the leadership of Starr and Gingrich.

More ?

Jim,

If Gore wins we can pretty much be guaranteed high oil prices and recession.

In 1992, Republicans were making similar remarks about Clinton. My favorite was Bob Dole's tearful television plea to stop the 1993 "Deficit Reduction Act", before it led out country into recession. Rush Limbaugh promised disaster if the bill passed. The bill did pass (by Al Gore's single vote), and the economy took off.

2. He won't approve any drilling in the Arctic Wildlife refuge and probably not off California and Florida.

We miss those oil spills. Santa Barbara was a wonderful experience for the people of California. I'm sure that Alaskan's feel the same way about the Valdez.

We need long term solutions to our energy problems. Oil is not the answer.
