Zeeve, what do you make of these pockets of stregnth? It just seems alot of stocks I follow seem to be trading in a completely different world from the Indices.. I watched VECO right up to the close hoping for some weakness, and nada.. Even SSTI and SNDK really dont want to budge..

After realizing a 10 point move in a weak market, you would think some profit taking was in order.. Also QCOM- I had to get back in.. Its had so many opportunities to break down and each time it hits 58, it bounces back. Stocks like AMAT, INTC, and others that enjoyed the huge runups are all getting put back in their place but until everything breaks down, how can anyone take the decline seriously?

Zeev,

I fully agree with you on time being a one way street down. That is why I only (usually) write options. For a quick play though where I want to control some large volume, the time loss is really insignificant.

As for VECO, I haven't touched it after it left 55. It does look strong, but I also see the short interest has dropped roughly in half in August. It is now back to nominal. Not sure how much "fuel" might be left and the shorters may be able to take it down once again. I won't touch it at this point.
