The sad part of David's view (though I don't get to read his posts anymore - I merely gleaned from yours) is the fact that he thinks the market can actually meltdown so significantly.
That can't happen, for several reasons. 1, circuit breakers prevent free falls. They have proven useful. 2, The Fed has shown willingness to provide liquidity in times of crisis. 3, the internet may seize up, phone lines might too....but that would be a good thing, wouldn't it? It would prevent excessive panic selling.

This is a 100% true statement. Even the IRS agrees with it.

You may have paper profits or paper losses but that is all they are.
