If true thats pretty huge :)

I will admit I never had any doubt about CHINA, or Europe having atleast 1-2 CDMA carriers, but I never thought I would see the day when they carry Armstrong out in a body bag!

<at least *two* major wireless carriers in the US
alone would be announcing a change to CDMA over the next year>

That would be great if AWS were one of the major wireless carriers, and they may be...

But I have a feeling the SBC/BLS may be the carriers IJ is alluding to....That is if you can still consider them two separate carriers.

I know for a fact that BLS has been considering and evaluating CDMA, and as of last month, were leaning very heavily towards 1X/HDR over EDGE, 1Xtreme, and the Chinese version of CDMA...

If SBC/BLS actually go CDMA, AWS will have no choice but to follow suit (IMHO).

We shall see soon enough.

Regards,

JHN

The audio from the SABEW conference is now available at the web site linked in your post. One hour and ten minutes of IJ talking about Qualcomm's past, present and future. Unfortunately, he does NOT say anything about "two major TDMA operators switching to CDMA" as the YAHOO poster suggests. I think he was confused by IJ's comments about the upcoming rollout of 1X by two major wireless operators (ie Sprint and Verizon) next year.
