Alski,

Volume on the NYSE has been around 850 mil for a few months now. 1.25 bil on a nasty advance/decline outcome with a "scary" loss of the 1480 quarter zone appears to obviate the "shakeout" intention whereby the rebalancing effect is used as a pretense.
Over the last 6 months the lack of overall market upside "excitement" has sucked alot of small player money out of the market.
But look at the weekly S&P chart. Are there not higher lows in May and July?
S&P 1460 is significantly higher than the July low.
When demand continues to value lows at consistently higher prices...the market is going up.
