Jim, I don't remember history quite this way. Reagan singlehandedly destroyed all government effort to develop alternative energy. This ranks right up with his budgets on the scale of all time presidential stupidity. Everyone is living high on the hog sucking up gasoline and jet fuel on their weekly treks on the great circle route while observing the polar ice cap.
