NTAP got by that by proving to ORCL that the performance concerns were misplaced with NTAP filers; and that if there was a failure of the filer before write cache was flushed, the OS would flush cache on restart that that no data was lost.

If NVRAM failed (which is very, very rare), the OS would detect that failure, inform the RDBMS server of the failure, and the RDBMS server could recover the lost writes with stale handle processes.
