Good Morning Defendall,

I'd trade an apology any day for a report from AIAA Space 2000. Your presence there and opportunity to meet with BS is access I'll never have. An AS2000 report and any future postings would be invaluable to me. I'm puzzled why you "fear reprisal" from the attitude police. So what if the attitude police dutifully note your posts lack the required rah rah or might be laced with skepticism, one engendered by your Loral investment experience. So what if anybody here accuses you of being wrong even though you were right about the 13k subs and are now called lucky. I believe your postings along with most others provide valuable input to an incredibly fascinating on-going debate. Hopefully you'll continue to post, spark more debate, and most important personally benefit from this thread.

Sincerely,
hiker90

Now about that AIAA Space 2000 conference (http://aiaaspace2000.cal.boeing.com/), here is part of the overview followed by abstracts from two AS2000 technical papers:
Conference Overview/Agenda

This forum will address recent space systems & technology achievements and provide an
opportunity to define our future in space. Past space achievements were significant. Safe reliable
access to space, the International Space Station, space-based communications and navigation,
routine use of space assets by our military and space science advancements are among our
accomplishments.

Here is one technical paper that might interest Loral and Qualcomm:
Technical Paper # AIAA-2000 5192 Wideband CDMA for NavCom Systems A satellite-based system that integrates mobile communication and navigation (NavCom) capabilities using the code division multiple access (CDMA) concept is being developed. Various architectures, with associated weight, power and performance, are presented with a description of the propagation model. Nguyen Tien M. The Aerospace Corp. TECH 11

Finally, one more opportunity for Jon Koplik to poke some fun at me. Here's my favorite technical paper abstract:
AIAA-2000 5337 High Temperature Electronics- An Enabling Technology for Space Exploration Ruggedized high-temperature electronics capable of withstanding the harsh environment of space are being developed to provide distributed control in spacecraft like the X-37 reusable vehicle. Design challenges, the latest test results, and the future of ruggedized electronics in space exploration are discussed. Shi Fong The Boeing Co. TECH 21

Defendall-I can't understand why you would stop posting. Noone's ego should be that fragile in cyberspace. Post! Free speech still exists on the Web so take advantage of it! I have a tough time seeing why folks like you and Valueman are sensitive to the point that you would not post for fear of retribution.

Now, listen, that does not mean I agree with or appreciate your particular point of view, or that I would not attack it ferociously if warranted. Witness my frequent defense of IFN as an important part of G*'s business plan going forward. But if your positions have intellectual integrity, that's all that matters. Not that most kings in Europe thought the world was flat or the general consensus of Edison at the time was that he was the village idiot.

Hang on,
you don't lose or win if you don't play. Mr.Market is always humbling at one time or another.

Defendall, I do understand your position better with this post. Let me say that since you have had to answer to other investors it is understandable that you have a cautious approach. I do appreciate the information you gave us such as the 10,000 subs. I think you have done the most intelligent thing in keeping in touch with management with your concerns. This is constructive. Meer negativity is destructive.

I hope you get a chance to talk to Bernard Schwartz...please report to us what you hear or feel be it positive or negative.

A venture such as this is massive and there will be many positives and negatives along the way. I am convinced as George Gilder and Gregg Powers that this system is valuable, has great potential and will prevail as a very successful company. It has many hurdles to vault and many challenges to overcome but I feel it will. I do have the luxury of being captain of my own ship and am perhaps more patient with Globalstar as it "climbs a wall of worry into the troposphere" as George Gilder stated it will do. I have the luxury of being able to be more intuitive than some.

A venture such as this requires time to develop. If I could find fault with Bernard Schwartz it would be over estimating how quickly it would ramp. Perhaps had he not done so he might not have been able to begin the venture at all for the high barrier to entry. However, given the enormous stigma of Iridium it is understandable that it might be slower. This just means that more money is needed to bring it to cash flow positive than was anticipated.

Here lies a conundrum. Because of the negative Iridium stigma the ramp may be slower than otherwise and the share price is abnormally depressed. Then when more cash is needed to overcome the slower ramp, it can potentially dilute the shares more if it is raised while the price is lower or Wall Street fears the resolve of the partners to carry on.

I do think Mr. Schwartz recognizes this and may be why he has held off phase II financing. However, I feel he will resolve this in the next month or so in my opinion to overcome any remaining fears.

Having followed this for quite some time, I can say I see a turn in the perception of Globalstar. With the IFN press conference and demonstration, the media and airline community is beginning to understand what I and perhaps you have seen all along. Globalstar is not Iridium and it is very valuable. It can do many many things that Iridium cannot do, what Orbcomm cannot do(I feel it will compete with Orbcomm very effectively) and is far superior to ACeS in voice quality and antenna connectivity.

Jeff Wales stated that IFN could use all of Globalstar's capacity and that Globalstar does what no other system in the world can do. This was reconfirmed with him.

Now enter Arcom's oil monitoring capacity and other telemetry uses. We will start hearing more and more about companies signing on for this in the 4th quarter. I feel that Globalstar will become the standard for most marine users except for some deep ocean travelling ships. It will take market share from Inmarsat.

I see the tide clearly turning and nothing but positive progress ahead. As Gregg Powers stated the service providers are happy with the ramp and comparing it to other new cellular ventures is really right on course. They have stated that the satisfaction rate is the highest ever experienced in the cell industry as measured by Globalstar's virtually non-existent return rate. This is what a great business is built upon.

I for one am more excited than ever before about the bright future I see for Globalstar.

Thank you for your posts.

Sincerely,

Investartist

defendall, I echo Geoff's and others' comments. Your posts are valued. Please don't let one or two persons' attitude drive you from this thread. Most people appreciate a balanced discussion.

Best to you.

Defendall:

I too value your posts. I for one do believe your past reports here.

Most contributors in these forums (not just this one) are biased longs. However their behaviors are perfectly understandable given human nature (they own the stock).

I hope you will change your mind because I (and many silent readers) do value your posts.
