To: defendall who wrote (16880 ) 9/17/2000 6:18:45 AM From: hiker90 Respond to of 29987 Good Morning Defendall, I'd trade an apology any day for a report from AIAA Space 2000. Your presence there and opportunity to meet with BS is access I'll never have. An AS2000 report and any future postings would be invaluable to me. I'm puzzled why you "fear reprisal" from the attitude police. So what if the attitude police dutifully note your posts lack the required rah rah or might be laced with skepticism, one engendered by your Loral investment experience. So what if anybody here accuses you of being wrong even though you were right about the 13k subs and are now called lucky. I believe your postings along with most others provide valuable input to an incredibly fascinating on-going debate. Hopefully you'll continue to post, spark more debate, and most important personally benefit from this thread. Sincerely, hiker90 Now about that AIAA Space 2000 conference (http://aiaaspace2000.cal.boeing.com/), here is part of the overview followed by abstracts from two AS2000 technical papers: Conference Overview/Agenda This forum will address recent space systems & technology achievements and provide an opportunity to define our future in space. Past space achievements were significant. Safe reliable access to space, the International Space Station, space-based communications and navigation, routine use of space assets by our military and space science advancements are among our accomplishments. Here's my favorite technical paper abstract: AIAA-2000 5337 High Temperature Electronics- An Enabling Technology for Space Exploration Ruggedized high-temperature electronics capable of withstanding the harsh environment of space are being developed to provide distributed control in spacecraft like the X-37 reusable vehicle. Design challenges, the latest test results, and the future of ruggedized electronics in space exploration are discussed. Shi Fong The Boeing Co. TECH 21
