Aus, that www.shopper.com list has really nothing to do with actual sales.

Various message boards have tried to use that list as an indicator of actual sales, and it really has little bearing. That list is a measure of click-thrus and serves as a measure of curiosity. But no purhase is required to register that click-thru onto the list. I have contacted shopper.com personally to verify this.

I was very curious too about the iPaq when it was being rolled out. I even looked at Ebay every now and then to see what the few available units were going for (a ridiculous $1000, this too-rich country is soon going to hell).

I was curious, but that $500 iPaq retail sales price was enough to make me not be interested anymore when my Handspring cost $249 and does just about everything I want it to do. All those Palm-ported old-school video games that are widely available for download are too cool when waiting for the subway.

I wanted to add a 64MB mp3 player module, but a module with the right features (voice recording) has not come out yet. Hopefully one will soon.

Except for techno-junkies, I think the top things holding back PocketPC are:

1. Price
2. Price
3. Price
4. Palm OS Compatiblity
5. Long battery life (for non-color Palm/Handspring screens like mine. I use 2 AAA NiMH rechargables in mine that last weeks, $2.50 apiece).

Once again, curiosity has little bearing on actual sales, but could serve as an indicator on how things could go if certain conditions are met (lower price).

The Expansion Pack is back ordered - I hope to receive mine in October. I bid double the MSRP for one on ebay but still didn't get it, a testament to how hot this market is. I did buy the CF Fax Modem direct from CPQ but I need the Expansion Pack for it to work. This is going to be a HUGE market for SNDK products.
