I'm all for treating rogue lawyers harshly. But this should not come at the expense of members are the public who have just gripes and injuries. I think we agree on that.

I was the defendant in an auto accident case awhile back. My lawyer, really the attorney for the insurance company, tried to get me to sign things she had made up in the interrogatories. I, of course, refused. It turned out that the case I had was solid enough that they ultimately settled for the original modest offer, which was less than they would have gotten had they not dragged attorneys into it.
