kemble, This may have already been posted but if not, do see any link to what DELL is really all about? ;)

With the Federal Trade Commission now expected to approve the formation of Covisint, the purchasing exchange developed by the Big Three, the stage is now set for significant cost reductions in the auto industry and for a
change in the way cars are designed, manufactured and delivered to consumers. Expect the full implementation of these changes to reduce the cost of a vehicle by about 11%, or $2,400; expect the purchasing exchange alone to account for about $585, or roughly 2.7%, of that cost. The exchange was formed by Ford Motor, General Motors and aimlerChrysler in February to streamline their purchasing via the Internet. After some initial resistance, the major suppliers have now joined the exchange, having determined that they too will see significant improvements in productivity, efficiency, and cost reduction as the exchange comes up to speed.
