CSCO--Net2Phone, Cisco in network management software pact NEWARK, New Jersey, Sept 18 (Reuters) - Net2Phone Inc (NasdaqNM:NTOP - news) said on Monday it would form a new company, which will be backed in part by networking equipment giant Cisco Systems Inc (NasdaqNM:CSCO - news), to sell network management software used in technology that allows phone calls over the Internet. Cisco, which has taken a minority stake in the new company called Adir Technologies, will jointly market the new network management platform to its voice-over-Internet-protocol (VoIP) customers. Such software, which is used to analyse the health, capacity and other functions of networks, has been commonplace in circuit-switched networks. But the companies say this is the first offering of such software for VoIP networks. Net2Phone shares closed at $33-13/16 in Friday's Nasdaq trading, up $1-15/16. Shares traded as high $92-5/8 in early Sept 1999. Since then, they have traded as low as $22-1/2 in late May. Cisco shares closed at $62-3/4, up $1-1/2.
