MIH increases stake in OpenTV to 36.5 pct

AMSTERDAM, Sept 19 (Reuters) - MIH Limited said on Tuesday it had increased its stake in digital software maker OpenTV (NasdaqNM:OPTV - news) to 36.5 percent with a purchase of 363,000 shares, previously held by News America Inc.

News Corp. (Australia:NCP.AX - news), the parent company of News America, said in June it would sell its 2.7 percent stake in Open TV.

OpenTV said on Monday that U.S. electronics and telecommunications group Motorola(NYSE:MOT - news) had increased its stake in OpenTV to 5.4 percent with the purchase of 1.887 million shares.

The sale of shares to Motorola and South African broadcaster MIH means that the planned secondary public offering of the News Corp stake has been withdrawn."
