domainLogix Awarded Multi-Million Dollar Contract Largest Single Contract in the Company's History
AUSTIN, Texas, Sep 18, 2000 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- domainLogix Corporation today announced that it has been awarded a multi-million dollar Phase I contract from Brooks Automation (Nasdaq: BRKS chart, msgs) to provide systems integration services to Atmel Corporation (Nasdaq: ATML chart, msgs).

Atmel named domainLogix the preferred integration partner under a prime contract awarded to Brooks Automation to integrate Brooks' StationWorks(TM) in Atmel's new 200mm Standard Mechanical Interface (SMIF) fab 8 located in Irving, Texas. StationWorks is an automation solution that provides the main communications link between each individual process tool and device on the factory floor FACTORYworks, enabling direct access and distribution of information across a factory automation network.

"State-of-the-art wafer fab operations require intelligent manufacturing execution control systems software, and experienced systems integration experts within the domain to both enable and maximize productivity gains," stated Jim Macek, chairman and chief executive officer of domainLogix Corporation. "As a relatively new company, it is encouraging to receive recognition from industry leaders such as Atmel Corporation and Brooks Automation. Being selected as the preferred integration partner for this exciting and technically challenging project supports our vision for domainLogix as a widely recognized and trusted industry leading company in the factory integration arena."

Phase I of the engagement began August 2000, whereby domainLogix will integrate StationWorks with Atmel's primary fab process tools to get fab production under way. The factory ramp and final tool integration phase is expected to be completed by mid-2002.

"Atmel evaluated several vendors for this project and we believe we have selected the top systems integrator in domainLogix, and the top product company in Brooks Automation, to help build this factory," said Pat Ryan, automation manager at Atmel Corporation. "Our fab will be up and running quicker and more efficiently with the help of domainLogix's integration expertise and the field proven StationWorks product from Brooks Automation."

Jeff Cassis, Brooks Automation vice president of factory automation solutions, commented, "This contract continues to validate the growing market acceptance of StationWorks(TM) and FactoryWorks(TM) as the premier manufacturing automation solution today. This suite of products combined with domainLogix's knowledge of fab automation processes will allow Brooks to deliver a world class CIM solution to Atmel, enabling Atmel to continue its leadership position in semiconductor manufacturing."

"An exceptional team of developers and engineers has been assembled for this project and is led by Charles Baylis, domainLogix's vice president of engineering, who brings extensive domain expertise in Brooks' StationWorks, having successfully installed Brooks' products at other SMIF factory sites," stated Mike Field, chief administrative officer of domainLogix Corporation. "This highly experienced team will be influential in increasing overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) and decreasing Atmel's total cost of ownership (TCO)."
