Only one anecdote of many that have a hard time getting press notice.

People need to defend themselves.
People need to be armed.
People need to be responsible for themselves and to be "allowed" to do so.

Armed Monterey Park Man Stops Home Invasion
One Intruder Wounded During Confrontation

MONTEREY PARK, Calif. , -- An apparent home invasion robbery went real bad
for two suspects Friday night.

According to Monterey Park police, a man walked into his residence in the
500 block of East Taylor Drive shortly before 11:00 p.m. to find himself
face-to-face with two intruders.

One of them was carrying a gun.

When the suspects started to approach the homeowner, he reacted quickly.

"The victim was able to obtain his own handgun and fire at the suspects,"
Monterey Park Police Department spokeswoman D.J. Casey told Channel 2000.
"One guy was wounded outright, and it's believed his partner was hit too,
but he was able to run away."

Police arrived to find one suspect hunched over outside the home, wounded
and bleeding. He was taken to an area hospital and is expected to recover.

"His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening," Casey said.

Police recovered the firearm one of the intruders had in his possession.

The homeowner was not hurt in the confrontation. He's not expected to be
charged with anything, since investigators have already determined that his
gun was fired in self-defense.

Police are on the look-out for the other alleged robber. He's described only
as an Asian male.

Anyone with information on the man's whereabouts is encouraged to contact
Monterey Park Police at (626) 307-1233.

Gordon, my basic point was that people try to convince others with manipulated or obsolete information and aren't honest about what they're doing.

Don't you think we should leave AL GORE out of this for the moment and just focus on the underlying truth about society??

People are more unwilling to violate other people's rights, harm them, or steal their property if they know that those people have the ability and the means to personally defend themselves.

Even killers would be less willing to attempt rape or murder if they felt the odds were that they would pay with their lives for the action..

Laws don't stop violence... People having the right and the means to defend themselves DO...

Basic common sensical, "law of the jungle", logic.... that's all...

Ron
