We need broadband in order for new and exciting software

One thing I've never seen anyone talk about that relates to this is pirate software. I think there is a good chance you'll see all the application developers begin to offer upgrade and software installs over the internet only. You'll never have an installer on your computer. This will nearly eliminate piracy. Bad news for anti-piracy companies. Good news for Adobe, Macromedia and Microsoft. Adobe already offers some software exclusively over the internet. It will probably take awhile for the larger apps to totally migrate to internet only delivery. Smaller stuff like upgrades, and plug-in will be the first.
