More OT on home OS:

I have three computers running various incarnations of Linux. The oldest has 2.0 and has maybe needed a reboot once in four years. But it does not have a GUI and so most don't like it.

The two newer computers have packages from RedHat installed. One has been running for eight months, no reboot, with the KDE option. The other has been running a little longer with the Gnome option. That one has been rebooted due to some power outages, so no fair test there.

One advantage of linux which isn't mentioned enough to the home user is that if an application freezes up, there is no need to reboot the computer. You can kill the application and leave the rest of your applications up and running.

Here is what is interesting. The GUIs on the newer boxes are actually preferred by Windows users. As in, if I have somebody who is familiar with Windows, but really not computer savvy, when they play with these boxes they like them better than their own. Also, I have Star Office suites on both, which allows importing and exporting Excel, Word files and the like, with no losses.
