I would like to know what Clinton/Gore have done for the black community besides pay them lip service. Every statistic I see says they still lag far behind statistically when compared with other ethnicities.

Murali, We seemed to have gotten off to a bad start, as was emphasized by phyxter, but I would like to start again to have a civil discussion with a person who appears to have a genuine interest in the politics of the country. One thing I can make clear, is that politics ain't pretty around here. Mudslinging has become a fact of life in the political arena.

As far as blacks, are concerned, the Republican party has tried to do the right thing for the black community of the nation, but in a different way than the liberal establishment that is firmly entrenched in the democrat party. The dems believe in giving "hand-outs" in order to make the black community beholden to them, and dependent on those hand-outs, so the liberal party can depend on their votes as a bloc. The Republicans, on the other hand, have tried to implement programs that give all minorities, including black, a "hand-up", teaching them ways to fend for themselves and get away from a welfare attitude, which will add much more to their self esteem than being wards of the state. An often used phrase is that, instead of giving a man a fish, it is better to teach him how to fish. ~H~
