.BAT file(s) --- How I'd do it ...

Whenever anyone posts the contents of their .BAT files, I open NotePad, cut the commands from my browser displaying their post, and paste them into NotePad. Then I save the file, giving it an eight capital letter name with a .BAT extension. You do this by selecting Save As ... from the menu and typing in FILENAME.BAT into the File Name: box and selecting All Files (*.*) in the Save as Type box. Be careful about which folder you save this into so you don't need to search everywhere looking for it. With practice, this process becomes easier, with thinking of an appropriate file name becoming the hardest part.

You can run .BAT files by typing their name into the Run command on the Start Menu. Windows will open a DOS window and execute the command. Ambitious power users can even create shortcuts to .BAT files, give them long Winded (Windows) names, and appropriate icons too.

Hope this helps.

Cheers, PW.
