"Ethernet is familiar and it's got great commodity status that InfiniBand and Fibre Channel can't touch."

More than a few controversial remarks to comment on. First of all, Petabit Ethernet? Maybe they should work on 10 gig first? The whole spin that there is a huge high capacity network out there that is running dry because the servers can put out enough data seems ludicrous to me. Secondly, I believe IB is a striped application that is 2.5gbps per lane. And finally, at least my reading of the HSSG information that is publicly available is that there will be more commonality in the interface than - THIS is FC and THIS is ethernet. The ethernet that has commodity status has nothing to do with GE and will probably have even less to do with the 10 gig standard, which may resemble IB and FC.
