Amy - Re: "Picked up a lot more INTC shares today. "

Looks like we're in the same boat !!

Re: "Btw, someone very bright pointed out to me a pattern (which some call the "Sept doldrums") that INTC has dropped approximately 25% from the August high - every year - since 1997, followed by a recovery by January. "

This worked well for me last year - I hope it works well for us both - and ALL INTEL INVESTORS - this year.

Re: After each of the 3 big 25% drops, INTC recovered in January.

It may depend on how this table looks in January. Especially growth in operating income and operating margin.

hi Amy

Your observation is correct for 1998 and 1999 but not for 1997. In 1997, INTC peaked in early August (just under 25 split-adjusted) and then started to drop in the fall. It did not reach that level again until November 1998 over a year later. It did get pretty close to the peak at the end of Feb though, although it couldn't quite pierce it.

I hope we see the 98/99 pattern this year rather than 97.
