No big deal here. Everyone is suing over patents. Where in the hell do they find all the lawyers?
>BOSTON, Sept 18 (Reuters) - The chairman of Akamai Technologies Inc. <AKAM.O> said on Monday he fears a patent dispute with rival Digital Island Inc. <ISLD.O> could lead to price reductions for products and services that speed the delivery of Internet content.

"We don't want (Digital Island) to commoditize the market with the work we did," Akamai Chairman George Conrades told Reuters at an analysts' conference in Boston.

But he added the dispute will not have a financial impact on the Cambridge, Mass.-based company.

"There won't be a problem," Conrades said. "We're on a tear."

Akamai, whose software and servers route Internet traffic around bottlenecks, said on Monday it filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Boston claiming Digital Island infringed on its patent for its flagship FreeFlow service.

San Francisco-based Digital Island filed a counterclaim against Akamai alleging patent infringement on one of its products, known as Footprint.

"We have a tradition of respecting the intellectual property rights of others," Digital Island Chairman Ruann Ernst said in a statement. "We are disappointed in Akamai's allegations and attempts to disrupt the operation of our Footprint content delivery network. Based on Akamai's actions, however, we have no choice but to respond in kind."

Akamai shares ended down $1-1/4 at $59-7/8 on Nasdaq.
