Joe, There is some lag between the time an opinion (FUD) is posted and the time the truth comes out. Maybe what seems like FUD was an early warning sign.

There's always the chance that FUD becomes truth but in most cases it's just intended to make investors uncertain about their investment. I believe the things you described are not FUD but pointing out flaws in AMDs strategy (chipset concerns, that was done by Charles months ago) or insider knowledge (20% taxation, nobody could have foreseen that).

If someone would post here arguing about slowing PC demand, growing inventory or points like that everybody would listen. But things like saying AMDs CPUs are more unreliable because their maximum temperature tolerance is 20°C higher are just ridiculous. The problem is that these guys don't want to argue. They just enjoy to bash a certain stock and its investors.

In my opinion AMD investors are usually very well informed about the risks associated with their investments because they know of the past of the company and the Intel dominance. I agree that contrarian views are very healthy and I like postings from people like John Fowler because of their (usually) objective nature. Unfortunately they are in a minority here: Pauls dozens of (FUD) postings are overshading them.

Andreas

RE:"None of us took the infrastructure problems seriously enough"

Charles and myself for two have been b*tching about the infrastructure for a long time. Some have even complained to me about it. Intel just keeps giving AMD time. Neither is all there is to this weakness of late.
