Re: Government takeover of every industry: You have a habit of jumping from Point A to Point G. I never even came close to suggesting that. What I will say is this: With the projected budget surplus, certainly America can look to the federal government to assume a greater role over the next decade in health-care costs, better treatment for indigent elderly, help with prescription drug costs and sending more money to school districts, particularly those in crisis in our inner cities. In times of prosperity, it is our moral obligation to help those less fortunate than us, and that also includes paying down the national debt so our children and grandchildren don't have to deal with this problem.

Actually, as far as my pension plan battles are concerned, it's more the principle than the actual dollars that I'm fighting for. I will continue to fight for the common working man and working woman to my dying day, and the thanks from those who appreciate my efforts in this regard is all the reward I need. Personally, I've got a decent nest egg. I have been saving regularly for years; never owned a new car in my life; always lived below my means; doubled or tripled my money on each of the houses I've rehabbed. Hell, I could probably retire in a couple-three years if I didn't have to put Kid No. 2 through college starting next year.

I think flapjack is full of $hit about the unions and his employment. He is a closet welfare cheat who is relying on the gov't to provide free housing, medicine, and food stamps. Thus, he is over the poverty line.knc
