Unless you are talking about a completely light weight subject.

I'm talking about a very heavy weight subject which included all of the big American semiconductor companies, and some rather large financial institutions.

I find that sharp people are consistently sharp. If there is evidence of him not being sharp at some time, it make it harder to believe someone's opinion that he was sharp other times.

Albert Einstein appeared to not be very sharp to his teachers. Heck, my sixth grade teacher told my parents that I wasn't very bright.
