SanDisk Opens Sales in Russia
Signs Adlum Commerce Ltd. As First Product Distributor in Russia
COLOGNE, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 19, 2000--SanDisk Corporation announced today it will begin sales of its products in Russia after signing its first product distributor in Russia--Adlum Commerce Ltd. of Moscow. The agreement calls for Adlum to distribute SanDisk's flash data storage cards and readers throughout Russia. The announcement was made at the Photokina trade show in Cologne where SanDisk is demonstrating products in Hall 5, A-11

Gerrit von Hofwegen, SanDisk retail sales manager for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said ``This is an important event for us because it will open to SanDisk the large market that Russia represents. We recently began distributing our products in China and now, with this agreement, we will have sales in two of the world's largest nations. We commend Adlum for recognizing the important sales potential that our flash data storage cards have in Russia.''

Dmitry Doubinin, Adlum sales and marketing manager, said, ``We know that our Russian customers will be extremely happy with SanDisk's CompactFlash cards and MultiMediaCards. They are internationally recognized for their compact size, ruggedness and capacity and will be ideally suitable for several Russian markets including digital cameras, MP3 players and handheld computers.''

Adlum was founded in 1992 in Moscow where it has 23 retail shops, five of them dedicated as pro photo shops and two other stores for digital audio, photo and video products. Adlum Commerce Ltd. also has subsidiaries in St. Petersburg and Samara plus a number of sub dealers. It has a company in Singapore operating under the name of MACE Technologies Pte. Ltd. that was established in 1993. In 1997 it opened a direct-mail service, Photo by Post Ltd. for the distribution by courier post of professional photo items. Its web site is www.foto.ru for Adlum's pro photo shop and www.adlum.ru , a wholesale site for dealers. It has representatives in the United Arab Emirates and the United States.

For what its worth...

SanDisk had a nice presence in the display case at my local Target Store yesterday.
Very visible, they had 2 readers shown and 2 different cards 16 & 32.
It was kind of cool and surprising, as I have never browsed the camera section at Target.

Don't be so sure. With such low volumes, it would seem relatively simple to manipulate the price anyway you wanted.

So, it wouldn't surprise me at all to see it rise again short term, even if in a few months time the share certificates will be more valuable with a hole in one corner and some string.....
