Tuesday, September 19, 2000 BofA upgrades INTC, AMD --2:01 pm - By Tomi Kilgore Banc of America analyst Rick Whittington has upgraded Intel (INTC: news, msgs) and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD: news, msgs), moving both to a "buy" from a "market performer." He lifted Intel's price target to $70 from $55 and AMD's target to $40 from $30. Whittington said in research note to clients: "Since declining over the past week, it is our opinion that the shares of each microprocessor supplier sufficiently discount potentially slower PC sell-through as well as the potential for aggressive pricing this winter." INTC is up $3.31 to $59.13 and AMD is climbing $2.88, or 11 percent, to $29.38. Six days earlier, Whittington downgraded both companies to "market performer" ratings from "strong buy."
