Dave,

My question about SH related to the size of the royalty. On an SH4 microprocessor (used in Dreamcast) the memory controller is probably about 5% of the die area.

Suppose that the whole chip sells for $10. Five percent of the die area is the memory controller, so $0.50 is taxed. If Rambus has a 3% tax on SDRAM memory controllers, that would return one and a half cents to Rambus.

Do you think that Hitachi or Intel or AMD or any other microprocessor manufacturer should or would pay Rambus royalties for microprocessors?
