. . . . High Fliers Again. . . . I added PMCS yesterday. . . and "meant to" add JNPR earlier today, but got interrupted with nonsense. I feel that even with an end of day margin liquidation dump, we are close enough to the floor on some of these high-flying techs. Added and bought others. . . SCMR, JNPR, NTRO, LNUX JDSU, QCOM, CIEN, INTC, JNPR, AMCC, NTAP, MSFT, SUNW, XLNX, DELL, ITWO, CSCO, BEAS, SEBL, AMAT, etc. . . the IMPORTANT stocks are holding the bulk of todays strength. That is also significant. . .as these are the same stocks which have been showing the bulk of the weakness for the past few weeks. Corning, on the other hand still breaks down with the rest. . .so I am waiting for the end of day before re-entering. Once more I must warn. If you are tied up in micro-caps or small caps which are barely moving today. . . you may miss an important leg of this market. When the markets turn north, our focus needs to be squarely on the BEST-OF-THE-BEST high tech companies. Stocks with Cult followings have a better chance at staging a bounce without news. AMD I've written much about AMD here. Added this week on weakness. This is a sleeper tech. . .with perhaps the clearest upside of most any tech stock I can recall. 8.8 Bil mkt cap, compared to Intel which is nearly $400 Billion. AMD's PE is about the same as its price. . . around 28. . . again compared to Intel's PE 43.5. Today's upgrades on AMD & Intel are significant in that about a year ago. . . the upgrades came out on Intel only. AMD moved in sympathy only. Now the two are considered such strong competitors that when one gets an upgrade or downgrade, the other is included.
