WOW! It sure was dark and stinky in there. Glad I only was in part way...my head. You are right I was operating on correct information falsely interpreted by yours truly.

Also just to share with all who may not have seen this on the Infineon page...

"Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line
Infineon provides ADSL solutions for the network side as well as the CPE side of the local loop.

With the B-MUSLIC chip set (Broadband Multi Channel Subscriber Line Interface Concept) solution, Infineon Technologies will offer the first splitter-less ADSL-Lite concept on the market for line-card applications. It is based on Infineon's revolutionary broadband SLIC and Analog Front End (AFE) technology. The ADSL-Lite algorithms are supplied by Aware, securing conformance to industry standards and interoperability. The solution is the first to combine voice and broadband data services on an 8-channel highly integrated chip set, thereby eliminating the POTS splitter on the network side and separating voice and data on the linecard-side of the network. The chip set supports multiple voice and DSL-Lite channels through a highly integrated signal path, enabling central office, Multi service platform and digital loop carrier system manufacturers to achieve savings in cost and power consumption, and benefits from increased port densities. A similar solution for full rate ADSL will be available soon...

Bye...I'll be under my rock.

Aware Introduces the Veritas 4000 DSL Test and Development System

Latest Generation of Field-Proven Test Equipment Presents a Highly
Functional, Cost-Effective Platform for Central Office Emulation

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 19, 2000--Aware, Inc. (NASDAQ:AWRE - news), the source for DSL intellectual property, today introduced the latest product in its Veritas product line, the Veritas 4000. The 4000 is Aware's most advanced platform for developing, testing, and manufacturing ADSL products. The Veritas 4000 is a compact, four-port central office emulator designed specifically for the manufacturing environment, with the capacity to test four customer premise modems simultaneously. It also has applications in product development, and interoperability testing, as well as sales and tradeshow demonstrations.

``The Veritas 4000 is Aware's fourth generation of field-proven ADSL test systems, which have been used to develop and test over 70% of the DSL chipsets deployed today,'' said Peter LeBlanc, vice president of marketing for Aware. ``Its four ports and advanced functional tests make it particularly well-suited for the manufacturing environment, where production throughput is crucial.''

The compact design of the Veritas 4000, along with its OC-3 and PC-based serial management interfaces, makes it an ideal manufacturing test solution. The Veritas 4000 is based on the fully programmable, multi-mode CopperHead(TM) ADSL chipset from Analog Devices, which complies with ANSI T1.413 and ITU G.992.1, and G.992.2 ADSL standards.

Each product in the Veritas line of test and development systems is designed to help system developers evaluate and build standard-compliant, DSL based products and services, as well as implement quality control measures in the manufacturing process. The Veritas992 contains both central office and remote terminal ADSL transceiver modules, enabling efficient testing of either CO or RT ADSL products. The Veritas 2000 is a test system with two standard-compliant central office ports for testing and analyzing remote terminal ADSL products.

For a demonstration of the Veritas 4000, visit Aware at DSLcon `00 Fall in Booth # 341 at the World Trade Center in Boston, Massachusetts from September 19 - 21.

AMD spin-off Legerity launches broadband chip sets
Semiconductor Business News
(09/20/00, 08:34:05 AM EDT)
AUSTIN, Tex. -- Legerity Inc. here announced its first products under its new corporate identity--a line of line-card chip sets for broadband applications.

Legerity, the former Communications Products Division of Advanced Micro Devices Inc., rolled out two products. The first product, the Am79D2250/Am79R240, is a chip set designed for use in residential gateways, integrated access devices (IADs), voice-over-DSL (VoDSL) systems, cable-telephony equipment, wireless-local-loop units, and other products.

The second product, the Am79D2251/Am79R241, is a chip set designed to meet the stringent requirements of traditional communications infrastructure equipment.

"Legerity's new Intelligent Access solutions are focused on addressing the infrastructure needs of the rapidly growing broadband communications market," said Daryl White, president and chief financial officer of Legerity.

"Designed specifically for VoDSL, VoIP, IADs, and other remote applications, these chipsets offer innovative features, such as integrated line test and diagnostic capabilities, that enable reduced cost of ownership for communication service providers," he said.

Legerity's chip sets implement a two-channel universal telephone line interface with integrated ringing support, diagnostic capabilities, and modem tone detection. This integration reduces cost per line by integrating many functions that would otherwise require external hardware, such as test and ring relays.

The new chip sets provide a complete software-configurable solution for all transmission parameters. They also support off-hook, ring-trip, and ground-key detection functions.

The Am79D2250 and Am79D2251 are sampling, with volume production planned for the fourth quarter of 2000. The Am79R240 and Am79R241 devices are now available. Per line pricing for the devices starts at $5.45 each in 10,000-unit quantities.
