SAN FRANCISCO (CBS.MW) -- Analog Devices CEO Jerald
Fishman said
the analog and digital chipmaker supplies 50 percent of
analog chips in today's
base stations and that it expects to ship 7 million DSL
chipsets this year.

Fishman said Tuesday at the Banc of America
Securities Investment Conference in San Francisco
that the fiscal-year 2000 will be an "absolutely great
year for ADI (ADI: news, msgs)," adding that it will
be ADI's best year yet.

The CEO projects double-digit sequential-sales
growth for the fourth quarter, with year 2000 sales
growing 75 percent from 1999 levels. For 2001, sales
should grow 45 percent
from 2000, Fishman added.

Steve, re: tracking shares
if ALA will price new shares between, what ALA bear William Choi, a Paine Webber analyst said(9 billion) , and 15 billion what others are saying, then ALA will rise lots of cash.
Since ALA is planing to sell 20%, then they will get over 2 billion of new cash.
Energy business will bring at least 800 millions( per analysts).
Adding everything to current net cash position of over 3 billion, ALA will end up with over 6 billion $ in cash.
At this point I smell some selective acquisitions of small
companies to fill any holes which may exist.
Cash acquisitions should not have any significant impact on eps.

Steve, what a market manipulator:"
Intel, the No. 1 chipmaker, surged 4.56 to 60.38, its biggest gain since June 19. Banc of America
Securities' Richard Whittington raised Intel and Advanced Micro to ``buy'' from ``market perform,''
after cutting ratings last week. "

That's the way they operate.

Did you see today: all major chip companies gained 5-10% on heavy volume.
