Not until we treat our oil reserves like you treat you investing $$$ will I be happy. Both should be approached with the same
mindset.

Our difference seems to be that I trust market forces more then I truest central planning and you trust planning more on this issue. As oil become rarer conservation and or alternative sources of energy would naturally be used more because the price of oil will be higher. Oil will not be flowing in massive quantities one day and all gone the next.
As it gradually becomes scarcer the increaseing price will eventually cause people to use less of it. Even the wisest and most dedicated planner would be unlikely to be able to handle the tranistion as efficently.
