"I don't quite understand how you could favor Algore's stated direction over Bush's, and call yourself a Libertarian.

I think it has to do with trust. Bush may talk the talk, but he won't walk the walk. His nonsense plan to 'privatize' social security insures that gov't stays involved. Frankly, I just don't believe Bush's rhetoric. Take for example his stated promises wrt to TEA when he was running for governor of Texas, and the reality after he had his chance to implement his promises. Why would anyone trust the man's 'stated direction' again?

Again, the choice is between two pandering demagogues that are going to give party favors to their favorite special interests while epanding gov't in the process. Given that choice, I would have to choose the fellow that panders to my particular special interests. So, as a woman I think that the Demopublicans will do more to protect the gov't granted 'rights' of women. Also, I have a father in a nursing home who's medication costs about $500 per month, and Gore wants to pay that bill.

You are correct though that I couldn't favor Gore over Bush and call myself a Libertarian. Neither could I favor Gore over Bush. One will use a hammer and nails to build a bigger gov't, the other favors a screwdriver and screws. The difference between the two is so slight as to be practically non-existant.

Regards,

Barb
