The Constitution would be an empty document without interpretation.

A guy has a T-shirt made up that says "#### Nixon." Is it protected speech, or not? Without the Supreme Court to interpret how the First Amendment applies, the Constitution has no value, nobody knows if it applies or not.

The alternative would be to revise the Constitution on an annual basis, and then we'd be just like France.

Do you deny that the Constitution is a "work in progress"? Of course it is. Laws are constantly being "amended" by individual judges, but because the appellate system is so extensive, many of those decisions get overturned on appeal. The Supreme Court every year tweaks the Constitution, for better or for worse. For one to argue (and I'm not saying you personally are) that the Constitution is a written-in-stone document, incapable of being reinterpreted according to societal changes, is simplistic.
