It sounds like you had a blast! There is something incongruous about being accosted by a 4 year old child to buy chicklets...and receiving the same proposition 50 yards down the street by a 95 year old woman sitting in the dirtiest part of the sidewalk. If you carry a pocket full of pesos, you can spend half your walk collecting gum, and the other half giving it away to grimy faced urchins...of course, this is only in the real touristy areas where contrast forces them to feel their poverty. You would be the equivalent of a mobile tv set, which bombards the fragile watcher with all the immense possibilities of the Universe. I always know when you've preceded me across the border: They refuse my money, and they offer me free gum.
