DVD title sales were spectacular for yet another week. For the week ending Sept. 10th, DVD title sales lingered just below the million mark at 999,000, slightly below last week’s annual high of 1,138,000. Year-to-date DVD title sales are 28,580,000.

According to statistics released by the Consumer Electronics Association, for the week ending Sept. 8, 2000, DVD player unit sales to dealers were 69,747, down significantly from last week’s sales of 236,180, yet up 125.1 percent over this week’s sales in 1999! Month-to-date sales are 305,927, a 289 percent increase over September 1999 sales, and year-to-date sales are 4,101,936, a 110.3 percent increase over 1999 sales.

VCR deck sales are down significantly selling only 202,884 for the week, down (-23.8) percent from this week in 1999. Month-to-date sales are 588,135, a 16.7 percent increase from September 1999 sales and year-to-date sales are 14,095,275, up a mere 5.7 percent over 1999 sales.

Projection television sales for the week were 18,267, a (-14.2) percent decrease from this week in 1999. Month-to-date sales are 53,396, a 13 percent increase over September 1999 sales and year-to-date sales are 823,913, a 18.1 percent increase over 1999 sales.
