Enron considers move into data storage
HOUSTON, Sept 19 (Reuters) - Enron Corp.(NYSE:ENE - news), which has already moved beyond core energy marketing and trading operations into fields such as metals and broadband communications, said on Tuesday it was eyeing data storage as a new business opportunity.

Speaking to reporters at the Dain Rauscher Wessels energy conference in Houston, Enron Chairman and CEO Ken Lay said broadband technology facilitated the transfer of data so that data owners no longer needed to own their own storage capacity.

``A lot of storage is not being utilized a lot of the time and so people could start buying and selling storage capacity, just like buying and selling (natural gas) pipeline capacity or (telecommunications) bandwidth Basically we would start rationalising the storage capacity out there,'' Lay said.

Enron was not currently offering any data storage pr
