note, it's their CUSTOMERS being squeezed and delaying orders...want to bet orders for high tech equipment are also being delayed and/or shelved?

Vulcan Materials said the same thing last Friday:

<<BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Sept 15 (Reuters) - Vulcan Materials Co. (NYSE:VMC - news) said Friday higher costs for diesel fuel,
natural gas and hydrocarbon-based raw materials will negatively impact third quarter earnings by at least 10 cents per share.

The speciality chemicals and construction materials firm said it expected to report earnings of about 84 cents per share for the third quarter, and at least $2.50 per share for the year.

The consensus of analysts polled by research firm First Call/Thomson Financial was 95 cents per share for the quarter and $2.65 per share for the year.

The company's earnings report is slated for Oct 19.

Shares of Vulcan closed down $1 at $40-15/16, off a 52-week high of $48-7/8, up from a year low of $34-5/16. >>
