(NasdaqNM:DELL - news) said on Tuesday that prices for key computer components are``softening'' in a trend that could lead to more aggressive pricing and stronger demand for the world's second largest PC maker's products. Dell Vice Chairman Kevin Rollins said fears the company had in the second quarter about unfavourable PC component prices and availability have eased. ``I think we're starting to see now those fears have not been realised,'' Rollins said at a Boston technology conference hosted by SG Cowen Securities Inc. ``We're seeing component prices soften. As we look forward in the next quarter or two, we see this as a trend.'' ``I think it's healthy for the industry. I think it's very healthy for Dell,'' Rollins added. He said the prices and availability of PC components have been unstable for the past 18 months. He said this prevented Dell's business model from taking greater hold. Dell, which is based in Round Rock, Texas, in August published second quarter revenue growth of 25 percent, lower than average because of slowing demand after the millennium changeover. That subpar performance means Dell would have to grow at a rate in excess of 30 percent in the last six months of the year to meet its 30 percent growth target for the year. ``We're not suggesting anyone change their numbers based on our guidance for (the third and fourth quarters),'' Rollins said. ``But we still feel confident the 30 percent growth target we set for the year is something that we will hit. ... This is just another helpful factor.''
