Round 1 went to staff and the cranberry farmers. Will round 2 go to the people of Richmond? Richmond’s business community wants it, the ailing economy needs it and the people of Richmond could certainly use the jobs. Attached to Sungold’s application were 360 letters of support from individuals and businesses, 9 letter of support from large associations, collectively representing approx. 10,000 people and ONLY 5 letters from cranberry speculators opposing the project. Will council cave to a small group of individuals speculating in bog land and cranberries or will they vote for a project that will benefit the very people who voted them into office? We’ll know Monday …
