Dan, <aren't you just a teensy, eensy bit embarrassed, as an Intel employee and IA-64 guy, to be whining about vapor launches?>

There are tens of thousands of pilot IA-64 systems out there right now undergoing stress testing and product qualification cycles. You NEVER want to rush the launch of a brand new architecture, especially if this architecture is targeted toward a market where high reliability matters much more than marketing fluff. One bug will turn this (admittedly overdue) launch into the mother of all embarrassments.

This is very different from Via's (and possibly AMD's) vapor launch of their DDR chipsets. Via is obviously rushing this so-called "launch" only to brag about being first-to-market with DDR. They're obviously not paying any attention to DDR DIMM compatibility, or driver stability (Via has a horrible record of releasing unstable drivers at every launch, only to patch these drivers months later), or motherboard availability, etc.

<Offhand, some might think you live in the mother of all glass houses>

Better than living underneath some rock which you occasionally crawl out of just to toss anti-Intel FUD.

Daniel,
He already said that. But aren't you embarrassed while having chastised Intel for paper launches only to not say anything on the biggest paper launch of all in DDR?
