Chuck, re:<so-called slow ramp> AMD has been giving the 1.2, 1.8, 3.6 guidance for a long time. Then they added the 7.2 prediction for Q4. Nothing has changed in the ramp rate. Obviously it would be possible for AMD to be making 7.2M Athlons THIS quarter, it just wouldn't be possible to sell them, no matter how many chipsets and motherboards there were. The athlon is demand limited at 50% per quarter growth, maybe less if some OEM's don't start making business machines soon.

Show me any evidence that AMD ever intended to be selling more athlons than they are right now. There was never any intention to ramp faster than 1.2, 1.8, 3.6, 7.2. I do think the chipset problems prevented AMD from exceeding their guidance by half a million chips this quarter, but thats not the same as not meeting your guidance.
