In laymans terms, it looks like this.

Assume AMD or Intel can get 200 processors per wafer with 50 errors. This is a yield of 75% or 150 good processors. A die size of about 100mm2.

I don't know of Sparc's size, but it's at probably at least twice as big. 100 processors per wafer with 50 errors gives a 50% yield giving 100 good parts.

You can't compete in a commodity game with these stats. (I'm just guessing so don't hammer me on the numbers).

I think you may be seriously underestimating this.

Add in Sun's existing customers and contacts which are not current customers and this number could go up 10 times in a few quarters.
