INTC--RESEARCH ALERT-Net2Phone rated attractive
NEW YORK, Sept 20 (Reuters) - Bear Stearns said on Wednesday it had rated Net2Phone Inc. as attractive and is encouraging investors to buy the stock on weakness.

-- Net2Phone (NasdaqNM:NTOP - news) shares closed at $25-1/8 on Tuesday. It closed at $54-5/8 a year ago and has a 52-week high of $76-1/2.

-- Net2Phone formed a venture with Cisco Systems Inc. (NasdaqNM:CSCO - news) called Adir Technologies to create networking gear for Internet protocol telephone networks using Net2Phone software and technology with Cisco's manufacturing.

-- ``We believe Net2Phone's revenue opportunity from software licenses (like Adir) could be several hundred million dollars by (fiscal year 2003),'' Bear Stearns analyst Robert Fagin said in research note.

-- said potential catalysts for the stock include upward revenue guidance and a clearer indication of the impact and timing of AT&T Corp. , Cisco and instant messenger deals. AT&T agreed to take a stake in Net2Phone in March.

-- ``Our initial forecast suggests our (fiscal 2001) revenue estimate of $139 million could be adjusted upward meaningfully over the next several quarters,'' Fagin's note said.

-- said he believes there could be some upside for his revenue and earnings estimates at Net2Phone. His current forecast is $23.1 million in revenues and a loss of $0.30 a share for the fiscal fourth quarter.

-- shares closed at $25-1/8 on Tuesday on the Nasdaq.
