Of course, that's just your own twisted imagination. There are many Itanium-based servers and workstations already out there doing stress testing, probably a lot more than Via DDR systems out there.

It's apparent that Via wants to "release" a product before doing any real stress testing or validation work. They must be looking at the Microsoft model of releases, as in "release it and let others do your dirty work for you." At least when Microsoft "releases" a product like Windows ME, it's actually available for sale.

Moral of the story: It all depends on what your definition of "release" is.

P.S. - Before I get flamed, I should also point out that no one should be excused for vapor releases, not even Intel (cough cough, Pentium III 1.13 GHz, cough cough).
