Tanzania Looking for Potential Oil Explorers,

DAR ES SALAAM (Sept. 20) XINHUA - Tanzania is looking for investors to explore its
potential oil and gas reserves, local newspapers reported Wednesday.

Tanzanian Minister for Energy and Minerals Abdallah Kigoda revealed that indicators show
there are many oil and gas deposits in different parts of Tanzania, especially the offshore
deep sea areas.

Kigoda made the remarks in London while meeting with representatives of British oil
companies including Total and British Petroleum following a similar visit to the United States
last week.

In Houston, Texas, the minister said at a meeting with US oil exploration companies that
Tanzania''s policy on oil exploration is better than any other country in the world.

"The government has taken a number of steps to ensure that there is no delay in acquiring
licenses for oil exploration and their processing will be done in a more transparent manner,"
he added.

Earlier this year, Tanzanian officials said that foreign prospectors has invested over 242
million U.S. dollars in the search for oil in Tanzania over the past 20 years but to no avail.
